Help & Support
A question about the app, an issue, a suggestion? Below are answers to the most frequent questions — and an easy way to reach us.
Where does the tide data come from?
Times and heights come from harmonic calculations based on each station's official constants (over 10,000 stations in 188 countries). Times are always shown in the station's local time zone.
What does the tidal coefficient mean?
The coefficient (20–120) measures the expected tidal range. 95 and above is a spring tide, below 45 a neap tide. The app includes an “Understand the tides” section in Settings, with a full FAQ.
How do alerts work?
Enable notifications in Settings → Notifications: you'll be warned before every high or low tide (15 min, 30 min or 1 h ahead), and for exceptional spring tides.
How do I add a widget to my home screen?
On iPhone: long-press the home screen → “+” → search for Tidova, then pick the Tide, Sea, Beach or Surf widget. On Android: long-press the home screen → Widgets → Tidova.
The displayed tide looks off, what should I do?
First check that the right station is selected: two nearby harbours can have very different times. If the gap persists, email us with the station and date — we'll check the constants.
Is the app free?
Yes. The core features (times, forecasts, alerts, widgets) are free, supported by unobtrusive ads.
