Spring tides 2026–2027
Spring tides happen around the new and full moon, when the Sun and Moon align their tidal forces. The tidal range (difference between high and low water) is then at its largest — great for foraging and exploring the foreshore, and a time to stay cautious along the coast.
What is the tidal range?
The tidal range is the height difference between high and low tide. During spring tides it reaches its maximum; during neap tides its minimum. In France the strength is read via the SHOM coefficient, from 20 (neap) to 120 (exceptional spring tides).
